The new A800R is unique in that the ram attaches directly to the bulkheads and relies on this attachment point to add rigidity to the bumper assembly, as the lower bumper is only attached with one bolt. Bulkhead flexibility is a critical tuning tool these days. More bulkhead flexibility allows more flexibility on the trailing axle (which emulates a C-stroke), while a rigid connection eliminates that flexibility. That's why we developed two types of bumpers for the new A800R: Flex and Stiff.
FLEX: The Flex bulkhead improves overall steering in most conditions and is recommended for low traction carpet and all asphalt tracks. The Flex version has the bulkheads attached with pivot bolts, allowing the bulkheads to pivot on the bumper without getting stuck. The shape of the bumper also promotes bulkhead flexibility while having a "springy" design to withstand frontal impacts.
STEIF: Stiff bulkheads are better suited for very high traction conditions where you don't want the front end to bite as hard, making the car more predictable and stable. This version is suitable for asphalt with very high traction and high traction carpet, such as US Black Carpet. The stiff version can be fixed with normal bolts and has a stronger construction with bracing between the two bulkheads to prevent bending and deformation.
Another great feature of these bumpers is the ability to mount our hood stiffeners! These are sold separately! Perfect for these lightweight bodies, our hood stiffener makes contact with the body, reduces body deflection, and improves the downforce generated by the hood and windshield directly on the car. This part bolts directly to the bumper and can be used with both foam and 3D printed bumpers. The screw on the top of the assembly can then be adjusted to perfectly match the height to the car body. They weigh only 1.5g, making them the lightest hood stiffener on the market!
